​Simon McCarthy is one of the most trusted and experienced voices in Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM), known for helping global organisations unlock the full value of their contracts and for acting as a strategic advisor to CLM and Legal Tech technology vendors. As the founder of CLM Nexus, Simon brings over 150 CLM implementations and 15+ years of CLM experience to his clients.
Simon's background enables him to have a unique perspective on CLM - having worn customer, vendor and advisory hats throughout his career. His first exposure to CLM was a baptism of fire - leading an internal CLM transformation programme as the client with no prior experience. From there, he spent 8 years with leading CLM vendor Exari (acquired by Coupa in 2019) overseeing Enterprise Implementations, leading the European Presales team, and eventually directing the Product vision and roadmap. He then went on to run KPMG's CLM Transformation Team as a Director in the UK firm and most recently has been a thought leader, strategist, evangelist, executive project sponsor and advisor to ContractPodAi as they scale up into Enterprise accounts.
Simon has led many CLM programmes across sectors including financial services, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, energy, healthcare and professional services. He’s worked with FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies to deliver successful transformation programmes.
Known for his transparency, empathetic approach, clarity, pragmatism, and ability to align technology with business value, Simon is regularly brought in to conduct current state assessments, build compelling business cases, define contracting target operating models, rescue struggling deployments, and advise C-suite leaders on CLM strategy and change management.
